I have been working at Amazon.com as an intern for less than a year

Pros

Great atmosphere. People really try to help each other through great communication. Executive focus and engagement in programs is very motivating. No place to hide for people who try to get along with the bare minimum.

Cons

Upper management can be a little ridiculous when it comes to project deadlines. Work-life can take a hit. Very limited training. Competition can get stiff.

Positive Outlook

I have been working at Amazon.com full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Leadership principles that one learns at Amazon can be very helpful for he career, and even in life.
    - **If** you are int the right team, you can have the opportunity to do some really god work.

    Cons

    - Some leadership principles are not applied in a good measured way. By some I mean the principle of frugality. For ex., shitty desktop and laptops, shitty to an extent that they slow down work sometimes. Another example is making it as hard as possible for filing and getting reimbursements.
    - Very low pay compared to market once you have spent more than a year. Salaries don't increase at all and no new RSUs, until you get promoted.
    - Bad management in most teams / orgs.
    - Takes too long to start green card process compared to other companies.
    - Hiring quality varies a lot.
    - No subsidized or free food. Very rare happy hours / employee or team bonding events. Even while choosing a lunch place for a rare team bonding for ex., one has to pay attention to not spending more then x amount of money on lunch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please apply frugality in a more sensible way.
    - Pay attention to employee satisfaction as well. Do at least subsidized lunch. Better computers and laptops.
