Current Employee - Implementation in Raanana (Israel)

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Good people. Development options. In some devisions you can maintain work life balance. usually have relocation opportunities. Althought the company is hugh, it still has a family like feeling within the specific units.

Cons

Job security is low, as Amdocs is ofter the first to let go in the market. In the Delivery division there is no Work life balance (mostly no life).

Not a great company - too many meetings, too much politics, too little work done, and favouritist

I worked at Amdocs as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good collegial atmosphere.
You get to work on up to date technologies and work on interesting collaboration projects with a diverse selection of teams.
Offices around the world meaning you have travel oppurtunities.
The company is capable and willing to look after you if they like you.

    Cons

Everything is managed "The Amdocs Way": This involves far too many layers of management, a ridiculous amount of micromanagement, and most staff feel they are being regarded as production line waiting to be turned up.
Far too many phone calls and conferences. A long telephone conference with absolutely everyone present is the weapon of choice at the first sign a problem.
Managers repeatedly ignore warnings about problems from experienced staff lower down the line.
Arbitrary deadlines and targets: Work is estimated, then management conjures up a reason why another 20% is "absolutely vital to the company's success" without explanation, followed by the expectation to work on weekends.
Favouritism: Certain teams (usually management teams from Israel and Indian teams because salaries are lower) seem to be protected and can do no wrong.
Long hours: Employees often seen as posessions who are expected to work long hours or answer the phone at any time over trivial issues at the drop of a hat.
It feels like an old boys' club.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If experienced staff lower down tell you something isn't working, or is necessary, please LISTEN.
Look at staff as investments with brains, not liabilities to be resented: You can't run a company from a spreadsheet.
Give staff from outside Israel and India the chance advance their career or you'll lose your best staff.
You don't need as many layers of management. You need fewer and they need to know what they're doing, i.e. people experienced in the field, not people who know "The Amdocs Way".

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
