Negative Outlook

Pros

good pregressively thinking company...salaries are competitive.

Cons

too many family members hired just because they are family....even if they are not qualified to do the job. This practice creates an environment where others have to take up where that person falls short, but they get a paycheck just like everyone else. also too much dependence upon one client so layoffs are inevitable.

Advice to Management

hire qualified candidates with the skills to get the job done.

    Pros

Has policies very friendly to employees. Very good exposure large telecom and cable client services and working cultures. Has very talented technical employees.

    Cons

Amdocs Champaign management are all internal employees promoted to management. BUT, None of them have any management or people skills, not even basic courtesy. Very high prevalence of Nepotism and back-stabbing politics. Their only offer of retaining departing employees - ' Do you have a spouse, we can offer them job here '

    Advice to Management

Improve working environment by focusing on long-term development of employees. Trust your employees and delegate responsibility. Micromanagement and petty politics should be discouraged. Practice basic management skills - say at least 'Thank you' and 'Please'.

    Pros

Salaries are good compared to similar companies

    Cons

You are expected to work 60-70 hours per week at a minimum. Work-life balance does not exist. HR department is the worst in the industry - most of them are arrogant, condescending, enjoy gossiping about their people's issues with others, and feel they have much better things to do than listen to you and -god forbid- try to help.

    Advice to Management

Outsource the HR department, or kick them all out and replace them with true professionals (demand that HR managers will get certified in their field)
