I worked at AmeriCold Logistics full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Made it through three years. Great people to work with within a department. You wear a lot of hats and learn alot about the industry because of it.

Cons

Every year around March there will be layoffs only to have more people hired by the end of the year at lower pay of course. Lot's of room for improvement but stuck in the "this is the way we've always done it."
Worked 50 - 60 hours a week. It was expected but not recognized nor appreciated.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Current Employee - Operations Supervisor in Cedar Rapids, IA
Current Employee - Operations Supervisor in Cedar Rapids, IA

I have been working at AmeriCold Logistics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Because of the high turnover rate there is always an oportunity to start on 3rd shift and move to first or second shift. Hourly employees have good benefits as far as paid time off and the ability to work over - time to compensate for the mediocre wage. Health care is good for what you contribute each month.

    Cons

As a supervisor you are salaried 50 hours a week, this equates to less than an houlry wage of the people you are supervising. Because the headquarters are in Atlanta, I don't feel the company values trickle down to the facilities. Alot of focus is given on customer service, which is great for job security, but the employees are not recognized for the sacrifice. Unless you have obtained a network of friends within the company, you are left on the outside looking in. It is hard to understand what direction the company is headed when people in upper management are coming and going.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to build a strong foundation before you can finish the house. Please get back to the basics of fairness, openess, empowerment, creativity, speed and fun. Even though the economy isn't where it was 5 years ago, compensate the employees for a job weell done. Take the oportunity to become a world - wide preferred employer.

    Pros

hard working workforce that worked well together, even though upper management thought very little about them. Money was good when work was there

    Cons

Management would not listen to reason. Forced overtime was a big pain at times, when you tried to have some kind of a life.
