I have been working at AmeriCorps full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Gain "in-the-field" job experience while helping others.
The shear access to AmeriCorps and other non-profits increases the chance of obtaining employment.

    Cons

You cannot be shy of denials. People will say "no" to you quite often, but if that's not an issue, the opportunities are there. If you know how to utilize your time as well as others', there's no limit to what can be accomplished.

    Fulfilling but stressful

I have been working at AmeriCorps

    Pros

Good way to get teaching experience if that's something you're interested in. A good transitional program after graduating from college.

    Cons

My program was very disorganized and there is a LOT of time wasted on redundant paperwork (due to the fact that it is a nation-wide, highly bureaucratic program).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They really need to stress communication between different levels of management more. Very few people seemed to know what people above/below them in the chain of command were doing.
