I worked at American Academy Of Pediatrics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and salary. Good vacation package.

    Cons

No chance for advancement. I was in the same position for more than 10 years. It is non-profit, so decisions take forever to be made. Intense favoritism. Lack of innovation among staff and management. Poor training of managers----most should not be managing others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those in positions who are actually doing the work, not necessarily the dept directors.

I worked at American Academy Of Pediatrics

    Pros

Helping children, some good dedicated employees, good benefits, good causes, some managers really care intensely about the commitment to children. Pediatrician members care about and love what they do but seem to be overwhelmed by insurance issues and government legislation to the point where they're burned out.

    Cons

Office politics - it's who you know and cater to, not how hard you work in certain departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make management accountable - don't accept excuses for poor performance. Don't believe everything you hear from managers; take employee opinions and views into account.
