Former Employee - Business Analyst  in  Fort Worth, TX

Pros

It was good during the era when an employee was able to get on planes by flying standby.

Cons

Limited training or pending to grow employees. Office building and office equipment are very dated. Lots of uncertainty as company is moving through bankruptcy.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much indecision on implementing IT projects. Too much 'customization to how AA wants it' on off the shelf products causing long delays in implementation or ends up being cancelled.

    Pros

    Many bases
Can live anywhere as long as you make your "sign in"
Seem to have settled the F/A contract

    Cons

    Hard to get transfers
Flights are often full, hard to get on so one has to go in a day earlier thus adding to expenses.
New contract is absolutely horrible with regressive work rules.
AA has very contentious labor relations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have upper management lead by example. Stop the excessive bonuses. No one deserves a bonus for miscalculating the timing of a BK and merger partner, disgraceful!

    Pros

Travel privileges, Good Pay, the fact that we can travel every weekend for cheap is pretty cool.

    Cons

Slow paced environment especially if you are a new hire, you have to ask for work or no one will bother coming up to you to ask how you are doing. Pretty sensitive about the flight benefits so even if you violate a policy unintentionally, you will be released. Because of the restructuring, managers who moved from one department to the other seemed to be confused about their job responsibilities and their role in the new department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management should be clear on their vision and long term goals.
