I have been working at American Airlines full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

I can't think of any Pro's now, other than the travel benefits.

Cons

Poor management with the 'good ol' boy' system in place. Terrible moral due to the bankrupcy, no salary increases for lower management (level 1-4) in two years, no job security, reluctant to provide communication on bankrupcy issues. Basic benefits slashed. Vacations and holidays reduced. Only advancements is all who you know.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring the non-union salaries up to par and share information about bankrupcy, mergers and contracts before releasing to the media.

    Pros

Offers a service that will continue to be in high demand into the future, travel benefits a nice perk.
    Good medical benefits.

    Cons

Too much competition in the industry, low growth potential and career potential.
Discouraging to go from industry leader to bankruptcy in just over a decade.
    Bad employee / management relations.
Modest pay for all except top executives and pilots.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improving morale of employees and good relations with the traveling public is a must.
The business model is broken, must offer better travel experience while cutting costs and improving revenue.
