Good career start, bad on promoting.

I worked at American Axle & Manufacturing full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Great experiences working between the plants in Detroit (that no longer exist) and through corporate.

Cons

As much as they try to promote a different atmosphere, its still very old GM mantra. Very prolific in the good 'ol boy network from the people that have ran the show since day 1 from corporate to the plants. Amazing some of the positions people based on just who they knew...

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on your younger talent before they decide to jump ship for greener pastures.

I worked at American Axle & Manufacturing

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Working conditions, corporate cafeteria and offices are top notch. The plants are some of the best I have ever been associated with.

    Cons

Work load is overbearing, you only work half days (12 hour days). Your family life is not considered important. Transfers, more often than not to locations outside the US, are manditory or you will be benched and your career stalled. Watch your back, you can be black balled by company sycophants (FOD).
