Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace change - It will fuel the future
Let employees drive innovation - Employee autonomy (or perceived autonomy) is a driver for motivation and innovation.
Become nimble - Learn to flow with change, not set down anchor and hope it works out
Get feedback from the employees - Management may paint a rosy picture of their department when its really sinking

There is a great disconnect from upper management to what is actually occurring. This comes with the culture at ABA, with each department working independently and defensively. Breaking the barriers and walls between departments will further drive innovation and enhance member value. ABA has great opportunity for growth, but the change aversion and slow response to demands is causing customers to flee.

I worked at American Bankers Association

    Pros

Best representation within the banking industry - members have great access to expetise and resources.

    Cons

Ability to move up within the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to all your employees regarding what is happening within the organization, not just just direct reports. Many employees are given preferred status treatment while others need to prove themselves daily.

I have been working at American Bankers Association

    Pros

They promote a fair work/ home balance. I am encourage by my senior management to leave no later than 5:00pm each day. They have a 7.5 hour work day as a standard for all employees.

Also, there is opportunity to do some light traveling for conferences and events around the country.

    Cons

Many of the senior level management members have worked their for over 20 years. Yes, 20 years.
They are a bit set in there ways, so while they do welcome new ideas, they don't fully embrace change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because something has been done one way for many, many years, doesn't mean there aren't other more efficient ways that can potentially work better. Embrace change.
