I have been working at American Cancer Society full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generous vacation, nice downtown location, comfortable office space. It is the perfect place to work if you are an average employee with no real career goals.

    Cons

No incentives, expensive parking, mediocre leadership, dishonesty among peers and management. Work load balance is unfair at best, some employees have too much on their plate while they watch others come and go as they please, if they report to the office at all. “Transformation” had lead to many promotions and new leaders with exaggerated titles with egos to match.

    Advice to Management

It is sad to see the "real" inside of an organization that I used to admire. The current leadership is either too blind or too settled with the status quo to bring real change. Stop wasting money on unnecessary technology, pricey office supplies that people do not need, and catered lunches for unnecessary meetings, that people in the field work so hard to acquire from the unsuspecting public.

Non-management employees are sadly not respected, althought the mission sometimes is.

I have been working at American Cancer Society full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    funded research and patient support

    Cons

While being the largest non-profit, there is a disturbing environment of bizarre politics, blatant favoritism, lack of opportunity and no raises for mid and low level employees. These employees are taken for granted while expected to contribute their own money back to the organization and donate their time outside of work with no credit for doing so.

    Advice to Management

Upper executives make obscene salaries ought to reward their employees for a change.
