I worked at American Dental Partners full-time (less than an year)

Pros

some of the dentists i worked with are really good and caring towards their patient

Cons

these same dentists didn't care much for the company and always talked about breaking their Business Service Agreement with ADP; pay scale is low compared to other Dental Service Organizations

Advice to ManagementAdvice

since I left, ADP is no longer a publicly-traded company and has been bought by a new Investor Group. I recommend changing all C-level personnel. The CEO, COO, CFO and all their VPs should all go. Let go of poor-performing affiliates and take a different direction (patient-centered and employee-centered)...and profits would follow.

    Pros

Nice office building. CEO has a heart of gold. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Place masquerades as a professional working environment. Watch out, you're every keystroke is being monitored by HR and Management. Extremely high workload. No flexibility in work hours 8-5 and that's it oh, and if you're late because of a snow storm - you get written up. Absolutely no orientation whatsoever. They just make you feel stupid because you don't know their "ways". Gossipy, cliquey group of employee's that runs management and leads it around by the nose. Queen bee rules her hive with a viciousness that's shocking. Inexperienced C-Suite - just out of college mentality. This isn't college anymore, we don't chat about frat parties at work..it's just..lame. Mobbing is a way of life here including vandalism to personal property. Hostile work environment that is supported, encouraged and set up by line managers. This is how they get you to leave. Ever wonder why you see job ad after ad after ad for ADP? This is it. People know a toxic work environment and they get the hell out-fast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When people are complaining to you it's for a reason. Investigate it. The Healthy workplace bill was created because of work environments like this.

I worked at American Dental Partners full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great proprietary software program for affiliates. Updated and improved on regularly. Excellent in-house training program (in theory).
Pretty decent benefits during these difficult economic times.

    Cons

Wage freeze going on for over three years now!! But work load increased steadily with no incentives or bonuses to boost morale.
Core values the company touts are really a joke. They look great on paper but it seemed like profit margin was first and foremost in upper managements minds.
Poor management on a local level as well as lack of employee recognition caused the loss of several key employees over the last year or so. Lack of teamwork and different rules for different staff was also a big factor in employee satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to employee recognition on a local level. Find ways to boost their morale and promote teamwork among staff. Less focus on reports, graphs, and pie charts and more on employee morale will help with staff retention and happier employees.
