    Pros

    Your last day of work

    Cons

Salaried employees working at the company are subject to rank and yank type performance reviews. Management in the Financial Crimes Reporting Unit is completely inept. They hired people managers instead of people who actually know how to do the work. This place is ripe with favorites, if you aren't one, good luck to you. The technology in the phoenix office is so out of date the phones look like the original prototype for avaya systems. I could have made this shorter and just told you to picture every terrible thing you have ever experienced at an old job or your current job, roll that into one company, and that is what you get when you work for American Express in Phoenix, AZ

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually have some knowledge of the function you are managing.

You can only manage by fear for so long, after that, it does not work real well.

In my department of salaried exempt employees, we had a turnover rate of over 50%! I made a list of 45 people who left in 1.5 years, out of 83 people. Mind you, this was in a bad economy as well.
