Cons

little chance of promotion
average pay
poor senior manaement

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-look who among you is only after their career and not the company - we have wasted months on projects no one wants to make someone look good
-and realise there are issues - some VP's refuse to admit it

Nice culture and family friendly, however big divides in compensation

I have been working at American Express full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

cuasious, intergal and customer centric approach to buisiness, however not going to change the world!

A loyal team, with a large network to lean on and lots of opportunity to work with different people.

Truly international, with good opportunity to work abroad. You are going to be expected to take international assignment to really move up within the company.

    Cons

Benefits are dependent on the line of business you work in, with large variances. Peers on the same floor with the same experience/responsibilities earning completely different salaries.

A lot of politics and bureaucracy, which slows or stop things from happening or having the best impact/return

Resourcing is always an issue and most employees are stretched to deliver more than what is effective for one person to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Align the pay across businesses and reduce the politics.

I have been working at American Express full-time

    Pros

Halfway decent pay, day-one benefits, supportive and knowledgeable training staff.

    Cons

Cult-like culture, very political organization, seemingly inept management, and lack of professional foresight in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to be consistent so that it will trickle down to the rest of the company. In the time that I have worked with the company, I always got the sense that management was shooting from the hip. It was quite the embarrassment.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
