    Pros

Great top leadership, great benefits, great brand, smart colleagues, good culture

    Cons

Corporate Card, too much politics, Travel, not core business, employees treated as such

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dump travel and get serious about leadership on the Corporate side, and progressing people based on skill and contribution and not who they know

Is AXP a good place to work?

Current Employee - Senior Project Manager in Phoenix, AZ
Current Employee - Senior Project Manager in Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at American Express full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

AXP is results-driven company, so things get done. Some training is available to employees, but most learning is on-the-job. You can move around relatively easily through networking, but Director and above must stay in job for a minimum of 24 months.

    Cons

Employee to Contractor ratio is too low, rotation rate of contractors too high. Result = resources continually have a high learning curve. Business-driven end dates only move to avoid complete failures and resources are expected to work very long days and weekends to deliver on time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be proactive vs reactive, but to avoid disruptions, avoid sweeping changes.
