American Express

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsLoved the company and culture. Leadership is held accountable for regular team meetings and one-to-one's. Benefits are good including profit sharing and company match on 401k.

ConsFrequent restructuring and layoffs. Team leaders are not given enough training in leadership skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployee development plans should be taken more seriously by leaders so that when it becomes necessary to eliminate some positions to make room for others, there would be a ready pool of internal employees to promote instead of letting good workers go.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at American Express full-time for more than 8 years

Pros: Good corporate culture where people genuinely value relationships and treat… Cons: Lower than average pay; large hierarchy and hence slow decisions;… Advice to Senior Management: Learn to delegate and let subordinates make mistakes and learn!
