Pros

Great work-life balance and good positive culture

Too much Political Correctness and effort spent trying to appease minority groups. Women and minorities tend to be favored for advancement

I have been working at American Express full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome work life balance, great compensation, and lots of opportunity for development and growth. Most of the people are friendly and pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Bureaucracy can be a bit frustrating at times. However, it is a financial services company and this is pretty standard.

I have been working at American Express

    Pros

Everyone knows the name of American Express when selling. This will help you get you in the door for sales. A Rookie will get paid 85K for just showing up to the job

    Cons

I would never recommend anyone to work for this company. The sales department has had more than a 40% turn over this year alone. The sales goals have increased by 20%+ each year for the last 4 years. This year American Express took 60% of the potential business away from the sales department without adjusting the sales goal. The company is quick to move people out of the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accurately reflect sales goals. This is the number one reason people are leaving the organization. Listen to the employees when you ask what needs to change.
