I have been working at American Express full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Flexible schedules for working from home or from the office, many opportunities for domestic & international travel based on your role and position, culture values internal movement between roles and business units.

Cons

As with any large organization, adherence to process is a double edged sword. Things can move slowly at Amex, but that is more due to a risk-averse nature than bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake.

I have been working at American Express full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Big on virtual (work from home) - a big benefit where "blue work" allows you to get the work done from home when you want or ned to. Helps with long commutes or when weather is bad. Keeps winning JD Powers awards because they respect customers.

    Cons

Advancement can be difficult because of preference of external hires. Seems sometimes that most directors come from outside world

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more within - too many outside hires for promotions
