Pros

The pay is competitive for the positions. Uniform shirts and shoes are supplied.

Cons

Family-owned company growing by undercutting industry leaders in the bidding process. The contracts are often not sustainable, so the company hires, cuts hours, transfers, and lays off hourly employees regularly. Typical negative aspects of corporate-type management without tangible benefits of structure. Personality-driven middle management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Standardize policies and procedures with communications and training. The hourlies hired on the basis of ability to pass background checks are often inexperienced and the Chef-managers don't have time to train. Written job descriptions might help. Consider altering sales commissions to include sustainability.

I worked at American Food & Vending full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Free uniforms, good quality vehicles.

    Cons

The epitome of a "stuck in a rut" job situation. Start as a driver or a warehouse grunt and you will still be a driver or a warehouse grunt 10 years later making the same pay. If you are happy with that, fine. Most people want the opportunity to advance with the company they work for. That won't happen here. And get ready to work 12-14 hours a day. You'd be better off finding something else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Play the game until you can find something else and get out of there while you can.

I have been working at American Food & Vending full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Set your own schedule, within reason.
    Minimal supervision.
Pay based on how much you're willing to take on.

    Cons

Route logistics don't make sense-unwanted stops.
Good routes make more money than management, creating a "stuck" feeling.
Company wastes too much money on inferior routes/drivers.
    Benefits are a joke.
