Pros

Good pay. Can be a fun atmosphere at times. Free services

Cons

Very stressful and unrealistic expectations from management without being equipped to do the job. Morally, the company is "iffy" at best. Unprofessional at times.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The clinic managers need more sales training and tangible, tactical ways to do their job. Not just empty, non-helpful, pep rally like conference calls that cheer "You can do it!" with out giving any REAL ways TO do it.

    I worked at American Laser Skincare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    It's a job and you get paid every 2 weeks. You'll be in the cosmetics industry which is usually fun for any woman.

    Cons

    They force you to sell laser hair removal that is done with the oldest equipment in the industry. Then they'll make you tell faithful customers that they should buy more useless services they don't need.

    Corporate could also care less about the quality of life for their sales staff and expect unrealistic sales goals from their clinic managers. No wonder this company can't keep it's staff very long. Also, they have made so many changes to the functions of the clinics to improve their long-term profitability that they forgot to compensate the clinic managers and technicians who suffered through those changes and helped implement them.

    As a clinic manager, you can forget about having a life all together. You will work 6 days a week, at least 9-10 hours a day and you will live in your clinic the last week and the first week of every month...there are zero exceptions to this rule. And, don't even begin to think the title of "clinic manager" implies that you have any sort of authority because your Regional Manager will tell you you're not allowed to do anything without asking her first. A clinic manager is just a scapegoat and a work-horse for the Regional Manager. On top of everything, as a clinic manager you are expected to purchase necessary supplies for the office out of your own pocket. Then send in a expense report which your Regional approves. Even if your Regional approves it, the company still has major issues reimbursing you. This company still owes me hundreds of dollars! One of the checks I actually received bounced and was never reconciled!

    As the title of this review states, this company is run by catty females because you won't go anywhere in the company without becoming buddies with your Regional Manager. If she doesn't like you, she'll make sure you're gone without any warning. That's right....they are very good at motivating through fear. The entire sales staff of the company is 100% female, from the VP of Sales all the way down to the technicians. So if you come from a more well-rounded background, this company would be a disappointment to you with the lack of professionalism coming from the "hens who rule the roost", so to speak. You'd think with an all female staff they'd have something like maturity leave for us.....No, they don't. Heaven forbid, a clinic manager get pregnant, she'd most certainly be let go. None of the clinic managers in the Texas region have kids because you'd never see them if you did.

    Bottom line - once this company gets what it can out of you...you're done. They have no leniency for mistakes or for your personal well-being (i.e. vacation, personal time off)...even asking for a vacation is just asking to be fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You should have worked on employee retention before you focused on things like speeding up the faxing system or upgrading our credit card machines. You had some loyal employees in Texas but you proved how little this company cared.
