    I worked at American Pharmacists Association full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great history of organization and a wonderful building. Long standing members and many staff have come and gone and come again. Opportunity to be engaged in leadership, projects, and activities throughout the organization. Staff training is a priority.

    Cons

    Building has a high level of security which makes it difficult to have visitors or meetings with outside partners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Infuse transparency. Salary disparity exists within the organization compared to similar roles at similar organizations. Stuck on parity within organization that the positions don't match external market/competitors. Job ranges are the same from department to department--although market drives different salary based on actual functions. This paralyzes the organization.

    I have been working at American Pharmacists Association full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Collegial office environment, good benefits/holidays, nice office space, dedicated coworkers. Increasing efforts at transparency from senior management is making a big different, and they really do care about fostering a positive, supportive culture.

    Cons

    HR & IT departments completely out to lunch and no one seems to be able to do anything about it
    Raises are tiny and advancement is slow
    Culture of seeing deadlines as guidelines

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Everyone has noticed that the economy has more or less come back but the professional development budget and the budget for raises and new positions has not.
