    Advice to Management

You simply can’t innovate if you are unwilling to embrace all of the realities of where you are and where you are going. Your vision and communication of where the organization is or should be heading is lacking or misunderstood. Without a clear and agreed upon goal, and a well-defined strategy to reach the goal, real “progress” cannot be achieved. You create the illusion of “progress” by defining initiatives and spouting out a vision, and pointing to few successes (of which had nothing to do with the original vision of growth) as results of “progress”. Meanwhile, organization-wide frustration sets in without clearly defined and agreed upon goals, strategy, and plans. Real change – meaningful change – doesn’t manifest itself through an occasional email or annual all-staff meeting. Real change comes from the hard work that needs to be put into analyzing the strategic goals and organizational readiness to meet those goals. It is easy to “set” a goal. It is another thing to “work” the goal with a team of people who are engaged, empowered and informed. Without these steps, quality will suffer, goals will not be met, and ability to lead will diminish. Please consider changing your leadership style in order to meet the vision of “Awesome, Everywhere, for You.”
