I have been working at American Red Cross as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Good people, laid back environment, good communication, plenty of things to be involved in or not should you choose to be.

    Cons

Not everything works out as planned with quite a few last minute changes or modifications that are only found out about at the last minute after the wheels are rolling hard and fast, but then again how shocking is that in a Disaster Response organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carefully consider and test all upgrades to your systems and brand and then make them your own.

I worked at American Red Cross part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The upper management is very appreciative of employees, interns, and volunteers. Everyone is very friendly and happy to be there. Their happiness translates into a strong work ethic and a great work environment.

    Cons

Because the American Red Cross is a non-profit, it has limited funds and it is technologically challenged. I had to work with outdated computers and software. (Although its CDOC is state of the art!)
