Pros

Name recognition looks good on a resume. Feel a sense of purpose. Good benefits, pay is average for health and human services.

Cons

Chapters can get swallowed up, lack of leadership, people in positions of authority have either no motivation or no desire to do their job. No job security. Beyond poor management at the local levels.

Advice to Management

Get with it and recognize employee contributions and allow them to do their job.

    Pros

You can really make a difference and everyone is very friendly. You'll find people who really care about making a difference in their community, and it's a good networking opportunity. You'll know your job makes a difference.

    Cons

The Red Cross is bleeding money, and is attempting to fix the problem in all the wrong ways. They recently laid off all of their instructors so they could hire *some* of them back as part-time workers without benefits.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your employees. Figure out new ways of money management that don't involve axing your primary money makers. Don't overload people and wonder why things aren't getting done. Focus on your industry-service!

    Pros

You get to work in impoverished neighborhoods and help people secure temporary shelters after something happens to their homes

    Cons

it's a high risk and low reward type of environment with bosses always hounding you for not doing work to their standards

    Advice to Management

    Step up.
