I have been working at American Red Cross full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Work is fulfilling and most of the employees are passionate about what we do
    - A lot of opportunities for hanging out inside and outside of work
    - Cheap gym membership and social sports groups (running, volleyball, softball)
    - Flexible options for telecommuting

    Cons

    - Pay is not great
    - Professional growth is limited unless you want to try new things outside of your job details; you can generally only get promoted if someone above you leaves
    - Meetings (in-person and virtual) clog up a lot of work hours
    - Some departments act like separate organizations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more creative with inspiring inter-department collaboration and growth/professional development opportunities to reward innovation.
