    I worked at American Red Cross full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great company to work for, competitive pay and pretty decent benefits. Emergency Management can often become highly stressful and taxing; but the end results are worth the aggravation. Wonderful people to work along side, compassionate and dedicated to serving the public needs and are highly bright and intelligent.

    Cons

    Highly bureaucratic infrastructure-Board of Governors and Executives only concerned with bottom line besides the mission which they're supposed to operate within. Constant reorganizing of business policies which often leads to cutting of staff, whom are valuable and very much needed for daily operations of offices. Some senior management are highly indecisive, opting to not make a decision when one is needed and required-leading to confusion among staff which can leak onto the field. Lack of leadership and accountability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop the reorganizing of business practices-invest in the employee's future by offering more training modules for office staff and provide better leadership so all can achieve not just the bottom line.
