    I have been working at American Security Programs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good people who truly want to be run a fair and ethical security company for the contract security industry.

    Cons

    This is security so this is a 24/7, 365 days a year job - there are no holidays or weather closings so regardless of the situation someone is required to be working at all times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Try to understand the pressures and amount of work you put on your employees - we all work hard trying to provide this company with our best work. Be sure you continue to show appreciation for employees who are always trying to go above and beyond what is within their job duties.

    I have been working at American Security Programs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    The hire anyone, reading and writing are a plus but not required, willing to work 24 hours a day.
    The Managers drive nice company cars.
    The Managers don't hassle the employees because they can never be reached unless they need a "favor".
    You can often catch a nap while working the nightshift because the Inspectors won't relieve you even when they catch you sleeping. The reasoning is they would have to assume your duties and they are too lazy to work. They also lack the sight knowledge to stand the post.
    The Management is very knowledgeable considering they spent much of their time in the government sector. Unfortunately, it does not transfer to the private sector where their lofty philosophy is condescending and none of them have actually done the job.
    Grade A on delegating to subordinates who only care about filling a post with a warm body.
    OJT is costly so you can start work immediately.
    If your a Mormon, Management opportunities are plentiful regardless of skill sets. See Vice President.

    Cons

    Once Upon a Time, the owner cared enough to visit the clients other than at contract renewal time.
    Once Upon a Time, the owner was engaged in the daily operation of the company.
    Once Upon a Time, the owner cared about his employees.
    Once Upon a Time, the company was expanding.
    Closing the Maryland office is like watching the Ghost of Christmas Future transfering to the Business Development Manager at ASP.
    Clients - Just make sure the billing is correct so we (ASP) get paid on our invoice....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Discard the dead weight and overhead positions that produce nothing more than credentials on a page.
    Hire working managers that actually care about the client and their employees.
    Retrieve the passion for quality service that was lost when you hired all the "Yes" men.
    Hire people who have an ounce of original thought and a desire.
