Pros

Friendly workforce. Flexible. Great place for working parents. ESOP is a bonus.

Cons

More management training for leaders who have been with the company >10 years. They could use some enhancements and updates. Don't promote people into leadership roles just because they have the technical skills. People skills are just as important.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to be transparent to workforce. Communication is key condone-wide.

    I have been working at American Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Employee Stock Ownership Plan AND a 401(k) Plan, Good benefits, experienced management team that combines stability with an entrepreneurial spirit. Company seems to be focused in the right areas to continue growing.

    Cons

    Company has high expectations from its workforce, but I'm not sure that qualifies as a negative.

    Keep up the good work. You made a great acquisition in 2012, don't slow down!

    I have been working at American Systems

    Pros

    Stepping stone
    Decent pay for the area in comparison to other companies for same line of work

    Cons

    No opportunity for growth
    Pretense of wanting to promote from within but consistently going outside to hire
    Solicits employee feedback and does nothing with it or sides with upper mgmt
    ESOP with 5 year vesting/ lack of 401k
    Contract work that can be volatile/ no guarantees of continued employment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Recognize your good employees and do your best to retain them! The attitude has been that everyone is replaceable and that's bringing in a work force that doesn't care! If you want to retain your contracts, retain your best talent! LISTEN!
