I have been working at American Tire full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company has the right product mix.

    Cons

ATD seems to be missing a rudder, lost a large customer, reduced mgmt, and sales staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper mgmt is removed what is going on in the field. They need to visit locations occasionally and hear directly from the people doing the job.

I have been working at American Tire full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They have good training and lots of opportunities to move up. I started in an entry level position (I had lots of industry experience) and was able to advance. They are backed by an equity firm so they have plenty of money. I have been given freedom to work independently. I have been very well compensated too.

    Cons

Intense pressure to meet sales goals (but hey, it's a sales job, right?). They won't hesitate to lay off people if sales drop or something's not working out. Each location manager given pretty fair amount of autonomy to run their location which means there can be differences between locations--your experience will depend a lot on your manager. Company has gotten so big that its often hard to know who to contact for help with problems and sometimes people you ask for help ignore you. Inventory management system can be a little hard--requires a lot of oversight. If you're not in a sales position you might not be paid as well. If you're not connected to the core business, greater chance of lay off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to work more on inventory management systems.
