Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Farily comfortable office. Some departments are better than others in terms of employee motivation and morale, so look for those departments. There's also incredible job security here for at least the next few years as all the carriers race to upgrade their networks.

Cons

Not much chance of advancement unless you're willing to forego having a personal life and become a "Yes Man" to the managers. There is also a definite emphasis on quantity over quality here.

Advice to Management

Listen to the feedback your employees give on their exit interviews. When the company's dry cleaner notices, "Hey, that place has a lot of turnover, doesn't it?", you might have a problem.

    Pros

Opportunity to dig in across a variety of a disciplines. Lots of hands on experience in accounting, finance and operations. The pace is fast, as the company builds out it's accounting and finance functions, there's plenty of opportunity to learn about the role of technology in accounting and the way that firms automate analysis as well as manage financial controls.

    Cons

The company is going through change management as it develops it's US finance and accounting operations. This has led to some unsavory behaviors amongst management and a general perception that the ability to brownnose matters more than competence.

High growth, incredibly stable. Not for everyone.

    Pros

Very high growth company. Fantastic benefits (they're even increasing 401k match in 2013... and there will be no increase in healthcare premiums) - stock purchase plan, equity for all, bonus program. It's wonderful working for a company that is growing and seems to be recession-proof. Global growth.

    Cons

incredibly bureaucratic. SVPs are involved in nearly every decision. Very little autonomy, even for managers. Many micro-managers. The company is very cautious and doesn't seem to trust its employees - employees are blocked from viewing blogs at work. Facebook and twitter are blocked. There are about 400 people in the Woburn office, but at lunch everyone eats their desks (the cafeteria probably has about 10 small tables). Nobody seems to talk to each other. Most people don't see to be particularly happy, but stick around because of the great benefits. Don't get me wrong, American Tower is a very good place to work - but it's really not for everyone. I believe there are many changes under way to change the culture in a good way.

    Advice to Management

    give your employees more autonomy.
