Advice to Management

A more transparent recruiting strategy would help, though this is not the case of all departments or areas of the school.

    Pros

I found a few good friends. The tuition benefits are decent and my office was flexible in allowing me to do school work in the office. I was in a point in my life where my social life was very important to me and this job allowed me to go out during the week and come in to work hungover and late. No one cared about anything and my boss would roll in to the office about three hours after I did (daily occurrence). Of course, I have ambition and drive so I left this office soon after I started.

    Cons

In my office, I found that my co-workers were unmotivated, lacked experience, and were unwilling to be honest with each other about weaknesses and strengths. My performance review (which was supposed to be completed by me) was done by my manager because she didn't want to do her own work. There is no accountability and no drive to be a better organization. People could go weeks without doing any real work. People with skill, ambition, and drive are not used in the organization or tapped for information or ideas. Stay away if you want professional development.

    Advice to Management

    Senior management should be fired.
