Excellent across the board communication as to where the company is headed.
Great moral within the organization
Always looking for ways to improve a process
Conscientious to employees needs outside of work

Cons

Most employees are contract.
Never know when a contract will be over

    I have been working at American Water

    Pros

    There is a lot of overtime. A truck is provided to use at work and when on-call. A cell phone is provided.

    Cons

    Manager's lack the skills to maintain contracts such as communication skills, work ethic, and knowledge of Environmental Science. Manager's are given a small crew and must be able to multi-task in order to complete projects. Thus, manager's must participate in manual labor activities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat your employees the way you want to be treated. It is inappropriate to the raise your voice to employees or customers. Refrian, from becoming emotionally involved in work activities. Provide logical directions or instructions and have reasonable expectations in regard to quality of work. Hold yourself to the same standards you hold your employees to. The rules implemented need to go for all employees. Monitor the landline and wireless lines for excessive use when on the clock. Install GPS tracking devices in work trucks to prevent riding the clock or misuse of company property.
