I have been working at Ameriprise

    Pros

Very supportive or work life balance, hard to get mentorship on lower levels

    Cons

Most of the opportunities are in Minneapolis

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow more positions to be virtual, offer mentorship and direction to assistants. Many times the advisors don't know what they want if they are lower producing.

Political playground has made the company lose focus on effectiveness.

I worked at Ameriprise full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. The benefits seem to be above average for Minneapolis, despite gradually eroding year over year. Those who have been with the company for many years have excellent pay and unmatched vacation allotments.

    Cons

Extremely politically charged environment. There are political players in many leadership roles delighting themselves in their personal quests for domination. This poisonous layer of upper-middle management tends to sour the people perspective of the whole organization.

Lack of investment in innovation. Talent has been consistently leaving the company in critical technology spaces.
