Current Employee - Associate Scientist in Seattle, WA

I have been working at Amgen full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Management is flexible about time off. Compensation is good for all positions. Bonus has maintained 10% of pay for the last ten years. The Amgen Seattle campus is gorgeous, situated on Elliott Bay. Many good scientists are attracted to work for the company.

    Cons

Near constant reorganization of departments gives a sense that leadership cannot make clear decisions. Benefits have waned over the last several years. Morale has been in the basement. Recent efforts to restructure have dragged on for nearly a year with no action. Bench scientists and other technical workers are steadily being replaced by contract workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The mantra that cheaper is better has been going on for way too long. If cuts need to be made, do it with some efficiency then work on morale of all those who make the cut.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
