I have been working at Amgen

Pros

Great vacation, great bonus, great benefits, opportunites are abundant for people who are willing to work for them - you really can't beat the 401k contribution, vacation time, and bonus percentage - great company despite cut backs and downsizing.

Cons

Certain departments are hirarchechal and in my experience, promotions are few and far between - but, if you're willing to take lateral moves and work hard, you'll get to where you want to go.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The benefits, vacation, 401, and set Amgen apart from other companies - take these things away and Amgen will be like every other company out there....the bennies are what retain the staff!

I have been working at Amgen

    Pros

Amgen employs a very diverse level of talent from all over the world. They foster an environment which makes it easy to get your job done.
    -Great gym
    -Clean and safe campus
    -Affinity groups

    Cons

The great days are way behind the company. Amgen is stuck between being a bio-tech and a pharma company and needs to determine which direction it will take.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO needs to be more vocal and present. He rarely gives public interviews to defend or praise the company.
