I have been working at Amigos Library Services

Pros

Friendly coworkers and managers; excellent benefits; flexibility. Pleasant physical environment, easy access to parking, not a "cube city" like so many other companies.

Cons

No way to move up without MLS degree; must have consensus before moving forward on any decisions; not enough marketing of services; not enough internal training, which is ironic given that training is the main product.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more experimental. Look for new ways to grow, the old ways are disappearing. Marketing needs to be much more assertive, just to keep up with similar organizations, not to mention moving ahead of them.

    Pros

    Great benefits. Good work-life balance. Supportive atmosphere. Opportunities for training in order to become more adept with relevant skills.

    Cons

    Leadership was slow to adopt technological advances in library services. Therefore, the services weren't as pertinent to modern practices as is could have been. Unfortunate that leadership was resistant to moving forward technologically.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good work-life balance. Management was overly attentive to strange things like dress code.
