Current Employee - Reliability Engineer in Wilmington, MA

I have been working at Analog Devices full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

The benefits are very goo. There is a lot of job security across a historically dynamic market. The company has a very academic atmosphere, and actually feels a lot like a college campus. Everyone is very welcoming as well, with approximately 80% of employees being engineers. That said, expect to initiate the conversation.

Cons

There is not a lot of room for personal growth. It is quite hard to get noticed and recognition for a good performance. This is because many in the company have their head burried in their work, being collaborative only when necessary. The business systems are a bit antiquated, reducing the overall efficiency of the company. There is largely a top-down management style, without a lot of feedback coming up from the bottom.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention more to low level managers who are most intimate with areas that need improvement

I worked at Analog Devices full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, benefits. 5% 401k Company contribution PLUS 3% match on first 4% you contribute. Bonuses were averaging around 15% peaked at 25%, bottom was around 4%. Healthy company financially, - pay freeze, but not cut in downturn of '08-'09, company still posted profits too.
Local management (Greensboro, NC) and peers in engineering are great to work with.

    Cons

Corporate and upper management are not listening to the local teams, they've cut costs a lot and have definitely made the company leaner financially, but some has come and is still coming at the expense of tying the hands of some of the engineering teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think. Listen. Come visit locally and try to understand real issues.
