Pros

Allows and rewards creativity and new ways of doings things. Company has lots of history (Miller's Outpost) and plenty of respect for it's past.
Employees are respected, leaders are the first to admit mistakes and learn from them. Fun culture in stores and home office.

Cons

Economic downturn crippled the company at a key turning point.
Pay not very competitive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO (Tom Sands) is one of the most inspirational, forward thinking, creative, and personable leaders I have ever met. Unfortunately, some of the people he brought in from his former companies lacked most if not all of these qualities. His "right hands" did not behave in ways that were consistent with the culture he built. I don't think he was able to see that.

    I worked at Anchor Blue

    Pros

    Awesome co-workers
    Nice customers
    Good Discount (40 percent)
    Assistant manager was pretty cool
The hours and days I requested were usually the hours and days I got

    Cons

District manager was a thorn in the store's side
No opportunity to promote upward, left after three years for assistant manager at another chain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start promoting from within. I busted my butt in TWO locations (a NorCal location before transferring to Valencia) and worked at those stores for over three years combined, never once did I nor anyone else working at the store get promoted.

    No opinion of CEO
