Current Employee - Hourly Production Operator  in  Houston, TX
Current Employee - Hourly Production Operator in Houston, TX

I have been working at Anheuser-Busch full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Big bonuses for upper managers (top 6 or so in each brewery)
Tons of overtime
Up to 8 weeks vacation (not for salary types, new hires top out at 4 weeks)

Cons

Banker upper managers only care about $$$ and nothing else.
Large turnover in "group" managers because they are expected to do the impossible
Management bent on cost and job cutting without regard to long term effect on product quality.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't know if it's just in the Houston brewery or if it's rampant throughout the A-B brewery system. In Houston the budget (or lack there of) is law. Things don't get fixed, they get a band-aid to get thru this 8 hour shift then it's someone elses problem. Parts are rarely on hand to actually repair something. It's time to long at the long term effect this time of management will have on this brewery and the jobs it creates in this community rather than keying in on keep local managements bonuses at the maximum.

I worked at Anheuser-Busch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Over-time is available to almost all employees when they want it.

    Cons

Pay rate and benefits are no where near the normal rate for other AB In-Bev facilities. The Houston Brewery, located less than a mile away, has employees that perform the same work and get paid 4 to 6 dollars more per hour. Benefits are not on par wit the rest of the AB Inbev family of companies. The mandatory draft policy can cause you to work several days past your required shift, which is a pain after you have worked 3 12-hour shifts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adopt a night and day shift instead of rotating workers from day to night every month. Make employee benefits & pay equal to the Brewery.

I worked at Anheuser-Busch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

two free cases of beer per month, fun learning environment, tasting experience not relegated to brewmasters or certain managers, global opportunities, engineers and scientists have interesting roles

    Cons

male dominated, very few underrepresented minorities in upper management, some favoritism (maybe unlike any other company in that way), 24/7 and 365 shifts and monitoring needed (as with any biological process)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attempt to hold everyone up to the same standards or expectations and hire with diversity in mind (it is a business case).
