I have been working at Ann Taylor full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Company cares about employees; very strong on associate engagement. Good time off and a culture of work/life balance. Lots of opportunity for upward mobility. Excellent benefits.

Cons

Retail can be hectic and it's a face paced environment. There is a heavy emphasis on employee fashion affinity and style.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

A bit more appreciation to store managers for the outstanding results the company is getting. There's an understandable drive to "better" but don't forget to celebrate where you are.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company has an excellent system for everything they do. The store is set up so that anyone can easily assimilate into the store and start working with some retail experience. The salaries they pay are fair and above average.

    Cons

The company has great product but they are a little high priced. Today's market the people that can afford to dress in these clothes at regular price are getting slimmer. The company has high standards to maintain the stores, so they do always look fresh and crisp. They have never neglected their image opposed to other retail stores.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The credit card pushing is the most I have seen out of any stores in the malls. Be more like Nordstrom's if you want the credit card you will ask for it and they do not pressure the employers to reach a goal to drive some people and customers away. I think some customers feel uncomfortable with that aspect of the stores atmosphere we present.

I have been working at Ann Taylor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great about giving back to the community. The managers are given leverage to award team when they go above and beyond. Really about work life balance.

    Cons

Better integrated technology systems- email capture , access to .com on front of house pc's
Could really try to pay part employees more that have the experience in all locations.
No mentorship programs for people who want to advance in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need better technology integration with email capture poping up automatically so the customer is not bothered every time they are in. Nordstrom, apple and a few other companies have these systems.
Better wording with coupons and return policy.
Really listen to customer feedback on clothing, shoes ect.
