Hard word, little appreciation, constant turnover in management

Pros

Fun environment (in some stores), great discount, working one on one to help women feel amazing is so rewarding

Cons

Upper management (DMs specifically) sees a lot of turnover (our store had 5 in 2 years) because they are overworked and undervalued. This trickles down to store management, and the associates.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Break up districts into smaller sections, give DMs more "kudos" to pass on to stores, look at all metrics when evaluating stores deserving of kudos as opposed to just net sales.

Former Employee - Ann Taylor Loft Sales Lead in Albany, NY

    Pros

Enjoyable to help clients find exactly what they are looking for, pay is competitive as far as retail goes, can be a really fun job if you are working in the right location with the right people.

    Cons

Opinions are not required, as is normal in retail everything is done to a plan sent out by the company. Some managers will allow you to exhibit your creativity, but many will micromanage and bully.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep a closer eye on store managers and ask sales associates what stores are really like to work in to avoid turnover. Asking employees how they are treated should be more important.
