Pros

The company is the clear leader in the user virtualization space. Opportunities to work with cutting edge technologies and challenging tasks abound.

Cons

With Wall Street wanting this company to be the next big IPO, the company has lost its focus technically. To make the company appealing to potential buyers of the stock once it goes public, the NY banks are forcing the company to go in all kinds of different directions so that the company has multiple streams of revenue on the balance sheet. For the employees this is creating chaos as people try as hard as they can to adapt to quick and massive change that seems to occur weekly.

    I worked at AppSense

    Pros

The company has hired some really great employees in the field and technical positions and they are really hard workers. Great People to know as career contacts!

    Cons

Pressure is put on employees located in the corporate office, as they are being watch constantly by upper management. In the field selling you are put on probation in order to excel - even when you land a large deal! Also, it is the judgement of upper management on how (if) you will get paid commission (stated in contract). Not a good company to partner, upper management feels it is an honor for a company (large or small) to be accepted as a partner or alliance member of AppSense

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees more, instead of discounting them - really honor what they tell you. Please make employees feel more than that they are "just lucky to have a job"

I have been working at AppSense full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Yet to find any! Oh! You get massages, you'll sometimes get a one-to-one which results in a discussion about you, not working practises and current workload!

Great people, real technical geniuses in some areas. Real idiots in others.

    Cons

You'll never see your family or friends nor get any external training. You will be expected to work weekends, long, long evenings, at very little notice.

If you want to advance, become skilled in Spreadsheets. Don't bother with the real technical stuff. You'll only confuse the managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask technical questions more often, you'll weed out the pretenders from the experts

Stop treating staff like kindergarten, not everyone wants to be rewarded with a Donut or a Cookie.
Stop pretending AppSense isn't a sales driven org. The Co misses numerous targets because of this.
