Former Employee – worked at Apple

Pros – It's Apple! In terms of product, it's one of the most exciting places to work for! Watching Apple grow in the Steve 2.0 era has been nothing short of astonishing.

Cons – Working IT in Apple is much like working as a member of the janitorial staff in the basement of a really cool club. Very rarely do you ever get to surface and get a taste of the good life. It's lots of hard work, and they do definitely get away with paying less for employees than other B.A. companies... at least in IT. But ultimately I was proud to work for a place that creates such kewl products.

Advice to Senior Management – Some parts of Apple are wonderful, some are less than stellar. IT is a fundamentally boring job sector, but senior management could make it a much more vibrant workplace if there were better opportunities and appreciation for IT employees, both in terms of compensation and job growth. A lot of IT employees I know feel trapped in their current positions. Pushing the blue button every day gets boring. Sometimes a green button, or even a fuchsia one (gasp! how daring!) might be, you know... different.
