Pros

Benefits and time off. The benefits are very good. So is the time off and vacations. I also think there is good work life balance. California laws allow for great benefits. Steve Jobs is revered at the company. Is seems to be a great leader and everyone is excited about the products. Employee discounts on products are a plus too.

Cons

Stucture needed for a growing company. As the organization get bigger, the organization will need to change how they go to market and the processes that the organization employs. The organization opposes this becauses it changes the company culture, but there is a way to balance maintaining the culture with structure needed for a growing organization.

Advice to Management

Change is needed for a growing organization.

  1. Apple can provide almost endless career experience and possibilities but be prepared to give 110% all of the time.

    Pros

Information is shared all the way down to the lowest levels. For example, when I worked in manufacturing in the nineties relatively sensitive information about sales, forecasts, and new products were routinely shared with the lowest level worker. In addition information about salary guidelines up to the director level were readily available to all employees.

The ability to move horizontally in the company is fairly easy. It is not uncommon for a person to have had jobs within the company in several different distinct groups. For example a New Products manager may have experience in Human Resources, Materials, and Facilities.

    Cons

In general, near perfection is the assumed performance that an employee will give. As a result, significant accomplishments are often taken for granted by managers with little recognition being given to the employee. Even though the monetary recognition is there, the importance of the old pat on back is often forgotten.

    Advice to Management

More attention needs to be given to providing a supportive work environment. When you are expecting employees to work 60 and sometimes 70 hours a week stuffing their wallets is not always enough.

    Good benefits, but hush hush.
