Good products, good intentions, but too bureaucratic and run by too many technologists without good business sense

Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Good oportunities for growth Pay and benefits were pretty good Good intentions to divesify into solar and solidify lead in semi Great opportunity to change the game in semis with a focus on service (but don't thnk they will execute)

Cons

Lots of bureaucracy make it diffuclt to really get things done CFO is very powerful in the company, almost seems to be running it like a PE-owned biz Senior execs (corporate VP and above) have good risk-taking appetite, but mid-level management (MD to VP level) are not very business savvy and can not think through issues enough to take risk Disfucntional decision making (e.g. formal meetings where decisions are not made and then real decisions are made 1:1 where the real experts are not there to opine Stock not moving in 10+ years, CEO making +$10M/yr, other C-levels making $5M/yr -- where is accountability???

Advice to Management

Grow a pair and truly cut the bottom performers within the mid-level mangement ranks (MD to VP)

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

The people are great. Its a really large company and there are many opportunites to get work in other departments

    Cons

Management at least in my case didn't respond to e-mails or even phone calls sometimes. There was little appreciation from management of the work done but if something didn't get done you would herr from them quickly.

    Advice to Management

They need to train their managers better. If their managers showed the employees more respect and appreciation it would make it a great place to work.

  2. Rewarding company to work for, if you select the right group

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    - Advanced Technology - Discipline Engineers - Professional Work Style - Challenging Environment but Inspiring

    Cons

    - Hard to move up if you select the wrong group to work for - Sometimes not easy to balance family and work - Too many VPs

    Advice to Management

Finance101: Stock price reflects CxO's capability and the relative performance to the competitors in the same industry. Try to learn and get inspired from Steve Jobs, while we still have chance to bring back the glorious old days.
