I worked at Applied Materials full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Get to work in the state-of-art, high technology area of semiconductors processing.
Well regarded and No.1 company in the industry.
Interesting, technically challenging work.
Great colleagues, employees, great diversity, representing culture, nationalities and universities.
Cons – Cyclical business leading to work-force reduction every 2-3 years.
Could be stressful or long hours, depending on the position.
Many cases hurry-hurry wait-wait situation.
To a small extent sometimes needless bureaucracy.
Advice to Senior Management – Cut your spending (& save) during boom times, not during down times;
May be that will help keep the heads that sacrificed for the company business.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
