    I worked at Applied Materials full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible
    Good Perks
    Everything is good in good times when the market is growing

    Cons

    Very Unstable and lots of layoffs.
    No Vision at the top management.
    Strategies changes quiet often.
    Focused towards USA specially Austin is the centre of the world for them , rest of the world is just an add on.
    Very self centred and unopen employees, not willing to transfer knowledge for new people to learn.

    Create better Talent management program.
    Retain good employees.
    Make work environment more stable and secure.

    I have been working at Applied Materials

    Pros

    The non salary benefits are not too bad and you can get move about supporting global customers in the semi conductor industry.

    Cons

    Being a 24/7 industry can be a very tiring and trying at times. with the cyclical business cycle of companies in the industry makes it prone to downturns and possibly a fear of being lay-off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    try to help improve working environments in order to retain engineers on the ground with the customers and in manufacturing to improve reliability.
