    Pros

Pay is above average, Benefits are good, health insurance is superior and bonus and stock plan is worth it, Work Life Balance is incorporated--lots of work from home opportunities

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement are little, hiring from the outside is preferred , Management capability is low--no focus on building good managers, Frequent layoffs--I have been there 11 years and have seen 13 layoffs

    Advice to Management

Applied Materials has leadership issues from the top down. People get pushed into management positions who are neither good at it nor comfortable with it. HR has a long way to go to create a productive employee base. Work on creating more competent managers and weed out the bad ones, so employees become more satisfied and productive. Create opportunities for advancement and don't automatically assume external candidates are better.

    Pros

co workers are alright and trying to make a difference.

    Cons

Too many VP/Director promotions and and layoffs to pay for senior management. Way way too many chiefs and not enough workers.

    Advice to Management

Management is lost in a forest of stupidity and too proud to notice that the ship is going down.
