I worked at Appreciation Events full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great people to work and socialize with, nice environment, lots of social outings to cool places, meet lots of people, ability to gain discounts if you are visiting a restaurant or attraction that they have as a client

    Cons

The pay can be really rough, gotta be dedicated, not much room for professional advancement, a bit unorganized in terms of leadership,

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Appreciation Events

    Pros

    - 39% of net profit (Event Coordinator level)
    - 68% of net profit (Owner level)
    - not an office job, somewhat fun
    - travel within the GTA
    - orientations with business vendors
    - great learning experience, if you tough it out

    Cons

    - NO BASE (warning: should be well off, and want to do this as a hobbie)
    - must have a vehicle, doesn't matter if borrow, purchased, or rented - you need a vehicle to get from A to B
    - kms, gas, cell phone - get ready to rack up on YOUR credit card. ie. always on the road, opposite ends of the GTA and making cold-calls on your mobile (THEY DON'T REIMBURSE YOU)
    - 7 am meetings (not paid for), ridiculous - if you've been there longer than 3 months
    - like every sales role, territories will be worked up; you have to persevere.
    - shady colleagues (non-stop cattiness, it's your business, so people will climb on top of you if they can. ex. steal a lead within your territory)
    - more than 12 hour days if you want to survive with this job/at this company
    - if successful, and become owner, your expenses could drag your earnings back down if the team you run, does not do well

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - TELL THE CANDIDATES WHAT THE ROLE, REALLY IS, because this wastes both parties time
    - OFFER A BASE, even if it's minimum wage, AFTER probation period - considering EC has met requirements
    - HAVE SET RULES - DON'T MAKE EXCEPTIONS and show obvious favourites
