I have been working at Aquent as a contractor (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working as a contractor allows designers to experience different working environments and sharpen their talent and overall skill set. From in-house design departments to advertising agencies to small design studios – all have different work flows and require different design and production skills.
Working with a temp agency allows designers to work for an employer without long term commitment to see if it is a good fit for long term employment.

    Cons

Contractors must be adaptable, ready to hit the ground running and learn on the fly.
